It's the Start....

... of a Hollywood craze? I've just read that there's going to be a new Terminator film. Now, with the return of films such as Indiana Jones in the pipeline too, is Hollywood becoming less and less creative?

It seems like there are fewer and fewer original storylines for blockbusters coming out right now. There have been plenty of blockbusters that base their storylines on the old Marvel comics and old TV shows (Transformers, the new Hulk movie, Iron Man to name a few). With this new Terminator film and the return of Indiana Jones, what kind of message is this sending out to movie-goers? "Sorry, we're all outta ideas" comes to mind. There's also a multitude of directors re-making films and especially films from overseas (Sleuth, Dark Water and The Eye, for instance). Maybe this is the start of a downfall for the great Hollywood movie. Maybe the writer's strike will cause a big crash in the amount of truly original scripts brought forward. Perhaps international cinema will be a better prospect in the future.

My perspective towards Hollywood is not very positive, to be honest. But I'm not going to cram Scarlet's blog with my own crap...hehe...

I just think people need to get involved in media literacy. It is important for an individual to see what's under the surface and not to be controlled by the media.

I think the writers are still out there, certainly TV wise, but the money behind the films is noncreative. Sequels, tedious, never as good as the original(godfather exeption) and overblown, but they are cash cows. That's Hollywood, and it's also why our film industry hit the skid for so long.

independent cinema is the way to go.
art films & foreign movies, way more meaning than boy gets girl with guns inbetween.

Thank God someone finally wrote about this. Was watching a movie with my brother the other day and he goes "older movies are better than new ones..sequels and all'. I think so too. Most of today's movies I can't watch more than once but I have seen some old movies a zillion times..but i will still like them to make x-men 4..lol!

Oh btw, do you know 'The Departed' is also a re-make?? It's almost like a copy of 'Infernal Affairs', the original HK movie, just in English...

The original one is way better though, in my opinion.

Hollywood has had few real and inspiring films.
There are many inspiring, creative films being made but don't receive the exposure they need because the film makers don't have the funds to distibute them.
Three years ago I joined ,"The SpiritualCinemaCircle" and every month I receive a DVD with a feature film a documentary film and several short films. They come from all parts of the world. Check it out.
As for watching T.V. I stopped owning and watching t.v. 15 years ago. The best thing you can do for your mental health is to stop watching the news especially the night news beffore retiring to bed.
I watch movies on a home projection system.
